Selling Palantir at a Big Profit to Increase Our Cash on Hand

After you receive this alert, the Portfolio will sell 190 Palantir ($PLTR) shares at or near $174. Following the trade, the Portfolio will own 1,130 PLTR shares, roughly 3.1% of its assets.

The Portfolio is up around 63% on its the slug of Palantir shares we purchased in late June near $107, and we are going to lock that in by exiting the 120 shares we added back then and then some. We’re making this move for a few related reasons.

First, we want to lift our cash levels back up after recently adding to Broadcom ($AVGO), TJX ($TJX) and Costco ($COST) as well as Tuesday’s pick up of additional Waste Management ($WM) shares.

Second, and this is where the two are related, last week we identified levels for several smaller positions that we are watching closely. Should conditions emerge that we want to take advantage of, we don’t want to be cash constrained. In other words, we are doing some mindful portfolio management with Tuesday’s trimming back of PLTR shares.

We say “mindful” because, after Tuesday’s trade, PLTR shares will still account for about 3% of the Portfolio’s assets.

As we make this move we will adjust our checkpoint level to $120 from $90. Admittedly that is quite a distance, but we do see a sizable gap in the chart created when Palantir reported its Q2 2026 earnings.

We are also resetting our PLTR rating to Two from One even though there is sufficient upside ahead to our $225 target to maintain a One rating. The thought process behind this rating change is tied to the pronounced run PLTR shares have had and how that is giving way to a more balanced risk-to-reward trade off in the shares.

(Please note that we are looking to execute these trades at or near the share price mentioned above. Once the trade is completed, subscribers can see the trade’s executed price here. Be sure to toggle the chart to sort by Purchase Date.)
